      Overview

      Dr. Lin Zhan is an Associate Professor of Chinese Economic History at the Renmin University of China. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Tsinghua University in 2014. He is the author of The Logic of Usury: The Market Mechanisms in Private Lending in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic China, a Chinese book. Dr. Lin serves as the associate editor of the Qing History Journal and on the editorial board of Quantitative History Research. Dr. Lin is also a Co-Principal Investigator of RGC’s Area of Excellence (AoE) project Quantitative History of China.
      He was the winner of the 10th Golden Fleece Award for Financial Books (2022) and the 2018 Sun YeFang Economics Papers Award (the top honorary prize in China’s economics field).
