Our MPhil graduate and current PhD student, Mr. TSE Man Him Martin, has been awarded the HKU Foundation Award for Outstanding Research Postgraduate Students. This award gives due recognition to research postgraduate students who have submitted a thesis of exceptional quality and have demonstrated outstanding performance in other academic aspects.
Martin’s paper “Civil Buddhism and Martial Daoism: An Ethnographic and Textual Study on a Chinese Local Ritual Tradition in Northern Guangdong” was the only MPhil thesis selected for the award this year under the Humanities, Social Sciences and Business Studies Group.
Martin completed his MPhil study at the Institute in 2022 and is currently pursuing our PhD programme with the HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship. Congratulations to Martin on this remarkable achievement!
