Mr. Xiaomeng Liu

During his visit to Columbia’s Department of History from January to May 2017, Mr. Xiaomeng Liu was fortunate to be involved with the “Making and Knowing Project,” coordinated by his mentor, Prof. Pamela Smith. He also attended the laboratory seminar “Craft and Science: Objects and Their Making in the Early Modern World”. His experience there offered him chances to explore new ideas highly relevant to his thesis, entitled “Medicinal Marketplaces: Commerce and Cultures of Knowledge Production in the Qing and Republican China.”
