Weather

June marks the beginning of the summer season in Hong Kong. You can expect hot, humid and sunny weather, with occasional showers and thunderstorms. Average temperatures will range from 26-31°C (or 78-88 °F), and may exceed 31°C (or 88 °F) at times.

Do also note that the conference coincides with the typhoon season in Hong Kong, which begins in May and ends in November. When a typhoon is approaching, warnings are broadcast on television and radio. There are various degrees of warning signals issued by the Hong Kong Observatory, but when the Tropical Storm Warning Signal No. 8 (or above) or the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is hoisted, the following arrangements will apply:

For presentations and/or activities that have not started yet All presentations and/or activities scheduled after either warning is hoisted or in force will be cancelled automatically.
For presentations and/or activities that have already started When Tropical Storm Warning Signal No. 8 or above is hoisted: All presentations and/or activities will be suspended immediately.

When Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is hoisted: All presentations and/or activities, except those held outdoors, will continue. For outdoor activities, the responsible staff members on the spot will suspend the activities immediately, ensure that all participants are taken to a safe place, and remain there until it is safe for them to return to Robert Black College.

Detailed information about current and seasonal weather can be found on the Hong Kong Observatory website (http://www.hko.gov.hk/contente.htm). While you are in Hong Kong, you can also dial 1878 200 and press '3' for English to check on the latest weather situation.
