      Abstract

Universities are the Hadron Colliders of ideas – places where ideas are distilled, expressed, critiqued and reformulated. That commitment to critical but attentive listening to other viewpoints has a major contribution to make to a society that is becoming increasingly fragmented along ideological grounds.

To further counteract such fragmentation, Dr. Lloyd will argue that beauty and goodness are necessary concomitants to the pursuit of truth, and that, as well as being colliders of ideas, universities can also be crucibles of art that captures the imagination and minds of our contemporaries. He will outline his vision for fostering a new Renaissance and the role of Christian Scholarship in leading the process.
