Foreword

In the past three years, the Institute aligned its development strategies with the University’s “3+1 Is” vision — converging international, innovative and interdisciplinary initiatives to create impact. Despite our compactness, the Institute has continued to make considerable impact through working with universities and research institutions in Asia, Europe, and the United States, developing cutting-edge, innovative inter-disciplinary projects. We have utilized public and private funds strategically to drive research that has relevance in both policy-making and in the larger community. We have published books and articles in leading academic presses and journals based on research funded by competitive grants. We have also produced a growing number of graduate students co-nurtured with overseas mentors and distinguished visiting scholars.
