Since 2011, Emanuel Schaeublin is currently studying Social Anthropology at the University of Oxford, UK. Previously, he has been working as a consultant, researcher and coordinator to the Islamic Charities Project at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva (a project funded by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs). In the past four years, his research has focused on the Palestinian zakat committees and their changing context. Emanuel holds an M.A. in Arabic Language, Philosophy and Political Sciences from the University of Geneva and has studied Arabic at the University of Birzeit, West Bank, and at the Institut Français du Proche Orient in Damascus, Syria.
